I have created this post to share some common 2 letter messages and to show what the different meanings are with our maritime navy signal flags.
IB Designs, USA flags are based on the Internationl code but with our casings at the top. Also our signal flags are smaller than regulation since they are 8″ x 8″.
Normally there are 26 square alphabet, three triangular repeater pennants and 10 truncated pennants representing numerals, normal procedure calls for alternating two letters with every number or repeater.
We chose to only have the 26 letters and at some point in the future introduce the number pennants.
The arrangement of the signal flags is suppose to run in an unbroken arch from waterline to waterline, which means that two flags will almost touch the water.
One piece of trivia that I found interesting is that before she sailed the signal flags on the Titatic spelled SUCCESS.
